LSB Employees Raise $1,500 for Pella in Pink

Employees from all four Leighton State Bank branches joined together to go “Casual for a Cause” by donating funds towards Pella Regional Health Center’s Pella in Pink. LSB staff will wear jeans and pink T-shirts on Fridays to support the annual October event, which raises awareness of breast cancer and breast care programs at Pella Regional. Giving by LSB employees over the past six years has resulted in $5,500 in donations to Pella in Pink.

“This year, Pella in Pink has a great opportunity to lead the charge for greater levels of local cancer care, not just for breast cancer patients, but for patients fighting many other types of cancer. All proceeds, including this generous gift from Leighton State Bank, will be put towards the building of the South Central Iowa Radiation Center, bringing radiation treatment close to home for Marion County and beyond,” said Jenny Hesseltine, PRHC Foundation Coordinator.

“Our big goal this October is to raise $100,000 for this project. We are so grateful for partners like Leighton State Bank who give generously and motivate others to do the same.”

Prior to the check presentation, LSB staff visited with PRHC’s Kim Pearson and Hesseltine to discuss the benefits of providing local breast health support to Pella and the surrounding area, including the options that will be available to patients with the addition of the Radiation Center, expected to open in 2027. Pearson also shared that her position as Nurse Navigator was originally funded with Pella in Pink donations.

“The new South Central Radiation Center is going to be life-changing for our local communities. Pella in Pink is a perfect event to lead the charge and raise more awareness around the good things that are happening with this project. I would like to thank Jenny and the team at Pella Regional, who continue to deliver on making the Pella in Pink event a reality for so many people each year, and all their efforts in raising awareness and funds for the new radiation center,” said Joel Cornilsen, LSB Chief Operating Officer and PRHC Foundation Secretary/Treasurer.
